What do we mean by work?

What can you write about?

What can be published (and what can't)

Remember this is your work and your are responsible for the content. We know the language and words of the workplace can be crude and hash and using them can be important to conveying the power of your experience and feelings. That is acceptable to us.

However, pointless and gratuitous use of obscene language is not acceptable. It diminishes the author and the WorkInWords website.

You must take care not to libel others in your work.

We support the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) which states "any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility, or violence shall be prohibited by law". The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) prohibits all incitement to racism. We are strong supporters of the freedom of expression but in our view the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights applies as much to the internet as elsewhere and will not be tolerated.

If you upload or submit images to accompany you work you must ensure that you have the right to use the photograph. In submitting an image you are confirming that you have the required copyright. Any inappropriate images, for example, that which would be regarded as pornographic or depicting violence will not be permitted.
