When does it stop?

Battered from every direction, surely not just me?
From text to tweet to update, why can’t they let me be?
Both linkedin and facebook notices wait to be read.
My email inbox is rammed, should I worry as I go to bed?
Speed of interaction, am I linked to a global chat.
Hub of all communication or does it just feel like that?
I’m surfing online news services many times a day.
But you always know more, will it always be that way?
Getting feed from Google on every important issue.
To try to look clever down the pub, how very superficial!
Truth is I’m slowly drowning in this media onslaught.
Fighting the good fight, injured from the times I’ve fought
In quiet times, pulled from my war arena, I am numb.
PTSD washes over me with a foreboding of what’s to come.

Makes me think that ...

Social media is sometimes anti-social. It is liberating and pressurising in work and out. The relentless necessity to be up to speed with everything that moves, both sense and non-sense, piles pressure on working lives that are already striving to do a good job, to stay ahead and to stay sane. As often is the case Loot puts a finger on a growing issue for organisations and their staff.
