Juxtaposition

A new born in the arms of a grandparent.
New hope vested in something that’s spent.
Banksie’s art on crumbling Dickenson brick.
Mutton dressed as lamb, a dangerous trick.

A sporting challenge, veteran verses rising star.
A classic e-type aside a brand new sports car.
Watch a black and white movie on backlit LED.
Youthful exuberance trapped in an aged body.

Brutalism next to refined gothic architecture.
Taxidermy placed in a living room as a spectre.
Octogenarians holding hands, the love they have.
Scrimshaw boldly displayed in a penthouse pad.

Mount Rushmore’s clean carvings in ancient rock.
A modernist apartment in aged factory stock.
The thrash of new music in an historic venue.
The intriguing poignancy of old next to new.

Loot

2015

Makes me think that ...

In all things the knowledge, experience and wisdom of the existing is replaced by the new. People, organisations and societies that learn do all they can to ensure that the power and energy of the new is imbued with as much as possible when current passes to past. Juxtaposing the past, existing and new can offer new insights. Loots verse 'Juxtaposition' sets it out elegantly and powerfully.
