Makes me think that ...
In all things the knowledge, experience and wisdom of the existing is replaced by the new. People, organisations and societies that learn do all they can to ensure that the power and energy of the new is imbued with as much as possible when current passes to past. Juxtaposing the past, existing and new can offer new insights. Loots verse 'Juxtaposition' sets it out elegantly and powerfully.
